Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

Yup, that's right. I'm already preparing for Christmas in my home. The tree is officially up and we spent last night gazing at it's beauty while watching tv and lounging in the living room. My husband saw me adorning it yesterday and said "Not already?!?" but to his dismay, yes, already. It is time. Thanksgiving is just over a week away and I work the four days following, so I wanted it up in plenty of time to enjoy it awhile.

We do live in a small apartment this season, and I swore off most of my Christmas decorating, but the tree will always be here... even if it is just a small three footer. This past weekend I took a stroll through Hobby Lobby to discover that many Christmas items were on sale, including Christmas ornaments. So I found what I needed and I'm pretty pleased. I think I have a cute little theme tree going on this year. The ornaments I found were of Santa, Angels, and Snowmen all wearing outfits that had a quilt block design on their fronts. I also found matching quilt block ornaments and a collection of small gold balls to compliment. So far, the tree is looking very nice. It's my quilting tree, a new hobby that I have taken up this year. I do intend to top off the tree with some homemade fabric bows, and I'll drap some fabric around the bottom too, to make a complimentary tree skirt.

Christmas is always so much fun when it comes to decorating the tree. In the four years of my marriage our tree has continually changed, always a different theme each year with different ornaments and accessories. Next year in our first home, I hope to have a giant tree and decorate with actual ornaments that we have collected through our lifetime and our marriage. But this little pine will be decorated and standing tall and proud in my craft room for many years to come.
